Organise an Event for MMM

If you enjoy wildlife, archaeology, outstanding food and drink, cycling, boating or simply walking around the area we would like to hear from you. If you have a property or business near one of these amazing habitats, we would like to invite you to take part in the promotion of Cheshire and Shropshire’s meres and mosses during Meres and Mosses Month – August 2007.

Ways to get involved

  • Organise an awareness-raising event on your local moss or mere, e.g. a cross country ride, cycle ride, run, guided walk or sailing race
  • Offer a ‘special deal’ for MMM, e.g. a weekend accommodation package or set menu
  • Host a MMM event for your clients/customers, e.g. a ‘Lindow Man murder mystery dinner’ or ‘Meres and Mosses wildlife lecture’
  • Promote MMM by displaying posters and flyers for events
  • Create a new Meres and Mosses trail/activity, e.g. cycling, horseriding or walking routes

Meres and Mosses Month is part-funded by the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) of the EU, and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) through the Northern Marches–England Leader+ programme.

Promotion for this festival will take place regionally in the form of a Programme of Events, and internationally through the Network of European Wetlands. The programme will be supported by information in local and regional media, as well as CWT, SWT, MMM and www.netwet.org websites.

We will also be able to provide supporting information for your events, such as wildlife facts, species details and habitat histories – information that may continue to be of interest to your visitors/clients/customers long after the festival has finished.

To help you promote your activity or event we can provide (FREE of charge):

  • MMM logo
  • MMM posters and window stickers to display
  • Listing of your event/activity/offer on the special MMM website with links to your own website
  • Informative materials such as fact sheets, contacts for speakers, wildlife experts, etc
  • Representation for your business at the Great Meres and Mosses Family Festival to be held at Cholmondeley Castle’s Deer Park Mere onthe 5th August and at the Great Meres and Mosses Festival Finale at Wood Lane Nature Reserve, Ellesmere on 1st September.
